I think I said this...
I think I said this...
While watching the NBA Championship game in between naps, I heard at halftime that Tim Donaghy who is facing jail time, announced that the NBA may have had a few games go the other way for TV revenue’s and higher ratings. The game in question from his report was a 6th game between the Kings and Lakers in 2002. Everyone remembers this game, as no one could figure out why the calls were falling they way they did. It was such an outrage that Ralph Nader even felt the need to complain.
So of course anyone who works with the NBA has said these charges by Donaghy is wrong, and made up as he is just trying to stop from going to jail. But we are talking about a league that allows repeat drug users, violent people, players that hang around known gang leaders, and over all some are just right slobs. Thats right I said it. Their appearance is not professional and they set the standard for the street baller, high school athlete to go by. What would happen if the cast of TNT’s Basketball Review would agree to what this ref said? I’ll tell you, they will be fired.
So, is he the only referee in sports who has a problem with gambling? I find it hard to believe, as these ref’s do not get paid what the athlete is making. So if a person needs a new car, would he do something if he knew he wouldn’t get caught?
So before we blow him off as a person who wants a lesser sentence lets look at all the facts, and how many times have you see a play where the ref makes a call and wonder what was he thinking??

Is he right?
